Guys y is King's so slow? I still don't have my offer letter in hand yet! Forget accommodation...now em really scared! I've already changed the institution on my loan application once from Queen Mary's to King's, I can't change it back now!!!

Ya, even I have been told to finish my dental and optical check-ups here as it's shockingly expensive there and not covered by the insurance as well!

So how do u guys plan to get to King's from the airport? Taxi or the National Service or something rite opp. the airport?

Hey Ujjwala, I think I'll be leaving on the 13th...but I don't want to miss the orientation...I'll see wat I can do. But I definitely don't want to fly alone! Oh ya, one controversial moot court happened in March as well, how could I forget? Had u come for the inauguration of that one? If u had, then u’ll probably remember the girl who was compeering…that’s me.

I checked out Goodenough College, it looks great! Em making an application there too…I hope I get it there atleast if not at King’s! Thanks guys for suggesting it...:)

hello people.. finally got my tickets done for 13th from Delhi.. jet airways.. 2pm.. but sad part is i couldn't figure out any one else flying for King's in the same flight.. if any one planning to fly on 13th , try to get in same flight.. hopefully that will be convenient and cheap...

@Anisha: Have patience. It's probably on it's way. You still have plenty of time. But keep all your other stuff ready for the Visa and travel. I'll probably take the Heathrow Express and then a cab from the station. But I'll have lots of luggage plus my guitar so maybe I'll have to take a cab from the airport itself, which apparently costs 60 pounds from Heathrow to the residence. Not sure right now. Hopefully one of my friends in London will pick me up, but I doubt it very much. :) There's no need to change the institution just because your offer letter hasn't reached you. Doesn't make sense. :)

@Aditya: I'll probably fly out on 9th provided my Visa comes well in time and tickets are available for that date. Jet was sold out for 9th but in any case I'll be flying British.

    @ Anisha

Taxi seems to be the best way coz of the luggage involved especially if you are travelling alone , but it will be very expensive. Consider as settling down costs.

If you do not have too much luggage then Heathrow express would be ideal. The train station is inside the airport itself .It costs only 14 pounds to Paddington one way and then from Paddington you can take a taxi to ur residence.

@Residence Fee: Hello...did u check the latest accommodation rates for 2008-2009.. they have increased it by 400-500 pounds.. its too much.

    @ Aditya

Ya, i saw the rates. The increase for stamford and great dover seems to be the greatest, about 370 pounds. For Hampstead its like a 200 pound increase.

This increase almost neutralizes the 2% saving on paying the fees in a lumpsum. The total residence fee for the whole year for me at Wolfson House will come to 5272 pounds till September 4, 2009. Fees has to be paid at the beginning of each semester instead of monthly. So I'll need more money than I thought at the start of the session. :(

Now I don't feel so bad about not getting my choice of accomodation as in stamford or great dover. Their increase seems to the highest.

Liza I'll second that thought. LOL.
