You can peacefully get a mobile connection in london. You can get it from the airport itself...go to the information desk in terminal 4 (Heathrow) and you can buy any (Vodafone/Orange/O2/T mobile/Virgin) pay as you go(prepaid) sim from there.
Once you get you address proof and all sorted out then you can opt for the pay monthly(postpaid)[Edited Aug 18 2008]

Aug 19 2008, 09:55 AM@ Aditya: Look on the bright side. Since you're living in Stamford Street, your travel costs will be practically zero to commute to the Strand campus. So over the year you'll save money on travel, which we all will be spending. I plan to walk down from Wolfson House, but it's 3 km from the Strand campus, so it may not be possible everyday. LOL.
I've heard the Matrix service is not that great. I'll probably buy the sim card when I reach London although all the airlines have a student kit and some tie up with Matrix and are giving a sim card with 20 pounds talk time free with the ticket. In any case a cell phone will probably cost you between 20-30 pounds a month depending on your usage.

Aug 19 2008, 01:46 PMHey Liza. which offer letter u talking about.. u mean final contract or provisional offer letter (the one we faxed them back Part A).. coz today i have received the hard copy of the Provisional offer letter(PartA) that i received earlier through email.. i am also confused whether i need to sign it and send them Part A again or my fax was sufficient... and it will also be great if u can just paste the contents of offer letter here on this thread.

Aug 19 2008, 02:01 PM@Aditya: I never received a hard copy of Part A. I just printed out their email and Part A and sent it to them by courier. I think email confirmation/ fax is acceptable to them but I sent them the signed hard copy of Part A in any case.
The offer letter which Liza is talking about is the final one, with the contract to follow. There's a deadline of September 3, 2008 for signing the Residence agreement/ Tenancy agreement and sending it back along with the deposit. Its too long to paste over here, but the gist of it is that the signed residence/ Tenancy agreement and other documents have to reach the residence by September 3, 2008. The details of the offer and terms and conditions will be contained in the Residence Pack, so will have to wait for that to reach.

Aug 19 2008, 02:55 PMHi guys,
just a question. I thought the Uni would have sent us a letter in August containing all the enrolment/payment details. Have someone already received it?
Thx

1) I am talking about the final contract. The mail says that the hard copy of the contract ie the residence pack will be reaching me soon. I will have to sign the contract and return it the accom office along with the deposit fee, amount which they will mention by 3rd Sep.
2) As Prashant said itz a long mail to attach so I will fwd it, if you give me ur email address. The text of the mails that i got provisional and contract - both are same. The difference is in the text of the attachments. So have a look at that.

1) Ignore the hard copy of the provisional offer letter that you have got. The fax/email you send is sufficient.
2) You will be soon getting an email, same as the one I got today which talks about the final contract that we have to sign and return along with the deposit.
3) After you get that email, wait for the hard copy of the contract to reach you by post.
4) Sign and return the hard copy of the contract along with the deposit fee.

The website says that the college will be sending us an enrolment pack which contains the enrolment forms, schedules, fee payment instructions etc in August.
If I am right none of us in this group has got this pack till date. Guess we should be getting it soon.
