  I was just wondering....has anybody done any research on opening a bank account in the UK? I've explored the websites of different banks....and so far it seems to me that Barclays have the best solution for international students (both EU and overseas), i.e. iBank Student Account and Cash Card Account. You could read more on that at the website of Barclays International.
  
  Any comments, suggestions or recommendations on that topic would be greatly appreciated!
  
  And something else....anyone has any idea on the requirements for getting a pay monthly cell phone service contract? Or...is anybody planning on trying to get one...for it seems a better option than the pay as you go.
  
  Oh well....I better go back packing....last hours home....

  You would need address proof, which you will have once you open a bank account and start getting your monthly statements. The statements will contain you residence address and this will be enuf to meet the address proof requirement.
  
  Since this is likely to take some time, I guess initially you will need a pay as you go to be accessible.

  Thanks, Liza....unfortunately....it seems even for the bank account I'll need an address proof which in my case will take some extra time (till I find accommodation)....oh well...it is...what it is....;-)

  @ Everyone: After packing the first of my two enormous suitcases last night, which I can barely lift, the plan for getting to the residence has changed. Screw the Heathrow Express, I'm taking a cab from the airport!! :)
