    Hi,
@Diego- I guess I was lucky and got Stamford Street apts. I called yesterday the acc office to ask about the fees, and they told me to expect 3-5% rise to fees 2008/09. This makes it above 130 GBP/wk... As I read in some reviews rooms are tiny, but I am happy for the en suite and proximity to Strand campus

I got stamford street too, but don't know what to do! I would prefer to stay in an apartment, prices are slightly higher, but not so much. PS: a friend of mine told me that if you accept the accommodation offer from the college, then you can't leave the room and stop paying unless you find a substitute for the room, is that right?

@ Katrien: Thanks Katrien, but I'm already aware of googlemaps. As I have never been to London, it's rather difficult to precise distances and the time it takes to move from one point to another. Thanks anyway.

To those who got Stamford, congrats!

    Cheers,

    DF

Stefano, the information your friend has provided you with appears to be right, as per the information contained in the link provided by the university with information on the accommodation

    Hi Marlene,

We are a young couple attending respectively UCL and KCL LLM programme. We'd be interested sharing nice flat.

I am checking the gumtree on a daily basis and will keep you posted

@Stefano- I called them at the acc office, and they said that it is possible to terminate the contract in December upon notice, and deadline for notice is sometime in October. Even if you accepted the offer, you don't have to sign the agreement- nobody can make you sign one, and before signing you are free... Anyway, they also told me that all these rules are in some Guidelines that are somewhere on the website, and as soon as I find the doc, I will paste the link here

    Hi,

I am also interested in sharing a flat, but I'll be away for 2 weeks now and won't have any internet access. If anyone who's willing to share a flat, Marlene, Giuliano, finds something, please let me know - via sending me a private message.

    K.

    Hi!

I got an email offer for Lillian Penson Hall finally. They have increased the rates from last year, last year it was GBP 5625 and this year the same is GBP is 7500...I have accepted the offer considering that its ensuite, has free internet access and telephone in every room besides the cleaning is also taken care off.

    Anybody else going to LPH?

@Riad: About one of your old posts, on July 15th, you were asking whether it would be possible to move from college accommodation during the second trimester for instance. I've also been wondering for a while..

@Felipe: Thank you for posting the email.. p. 29 actually refers to p. 41 "3.3. A student leaving the Residence during the session is liable for the full fees for the full period of Residence until otherwise notified in writing, unless the residential place is licensed to another student and/or release is agreed in accordance with Residence Regulation 8 in which case fees are payable to the agreed date of release or of his/her departure from the Residence whichever is the later date".

Then the license agreement for all of University's Intercollegiate Halls of Residence except Lillian Penson Hall and International Hall says basically the same.. p. 5 art. 5.1 "If you leave your Accommodation for any reason you will be liable to pay the Fees due for the remainder of the Period of Occupancy UNLESS:"
art. 5.1.2 "you or the University are able to identify to the reasonable satisfaction of the Warden a suitable replacement student to occupy your Accommodation whereupon you will cease to be liable for Fees from the date the replacement student takes occupation of your Accommodation".

Now that's why I'm kind of worried and don't know whether to accept the accommodation offer frankly. I've been assigned Commonwealth Hall. I understand it's practically as far as Hampstead, but honestly what worries me is the shared bathroom! Any ideas? Has anyone looked into private accommodation/halls?
