Jul 20 2009, 04:54 PMHi! Riad,
I got n email confirmation of the mail (sent by me in april) that I had applied for accomodation from the Accomodation Services in July. After that I received an email last friday that I have been allocated LPH and was given 7 days to accept the offer.
I immediately accepted the offer by making an initial deposit payment online.
I hope I have answered your question.
Take care

Jul 20 2009, 05:02 PMHi Riad!
I did exactly the same thing as Sujata and received a cofirmation e-mail immediately after paying the deposit. LPH, however, is an Intercollegiate Hall of Residence so I don't know if there are any differences at King's College's own halls.

Jul 20 2009, 06:24 PMHeyy everybody, I just joined this group, and wow it seems like im wayyy behind in most discussions...anyways, I got Hampstead residence, and I have accepted it.
I saw a couple of discussion threads on the net reviewing it...the person who had reviewed them put up a couple of pics..one room was rrrreallly small and dingy, and the other was huge!! It seems like it will be a game of luck to see which one we are allocated. I am also so very worried about the shared bathroom!
If it is possible to terminate the agreement with due notice later, maybe those of us who feel like moving out can think abt renting out a flat together. It might be better to do this once we are there, as we will have a better idea of ground realities at that point...also by that time, we would have scoped out and actually seen some of the places we might want to move into.
But I think its gonna be a whole lotta fun...I hope the rest of the London experience will compensate for any inconveniences that we may face on the accommodation front!

Jul 20 2009, 06:31 PMEhi! Just a question...why did you pay a deposit? I've received my provisional offer and I've to accept it before thursday, but there's written nowhere that I've to do that payment! Is it a subsequent step? What does the accommod. office usually do after you've accepted the prov. offer?
Thank you all, and sorry for the silly questions!

Jul 21 2009, 06:56 AMhey Sujata n Walther, i hv the same query as Stefano, y did u make the initial payments???? did ur letter or e-mail specify the payment to be made..... n how much have u paid as deposit? the provisional offer which i recieved, clearly states that once the said offer is accepted by us they will be sending us an agreement of some sort which we will be required to execute. My offer letter does not talk abt any initial payments... infact the due date for making the first installment for one's accommodation is sometime in October.....
@Riad did u also make any payment for ur Hampstead Residence while accepting the provisional offer???

Jul 21 2009, 07:37 AMI am not sure at all but maybe there is a difference between the intercollegiate hall and King's halls??? The allocation email I got only came with the provisional offer and 2 parts (A and B). I filled in A and sent it through the mail. However, I did not receive any correspondence or links afterwards to be able to pay/transfer anything. My understanding was that this is all what we are supposed to do and that we will receive the rental agreement in August and pay the feesthen. Sujata/Walther, what do you think? Stefano/Shweta: I will call the residence today and get some clarifications.
