After being based in UK for a number of years, ,my personal opinion on LL.M:
I think it is worth it to do LL.M only from Oxford, Cambridge or LSE in UK.
Of course, as we all know, if you want to practice in UK, GDL and later LPC or BVC is a better option (some may argue it is better just to clear QLTT exam to practice in UK but my feedback after talking to some law firms is that it is better to go through the GDL and LPC route).
As an Indian lawyer if you want to sit for a New York Bar exam and also look for a job in USA, it is better to do a LL.M from a top five Law School of USA.
With US and UK economies heading for recession, some specializations in LL.M are more benificial than others while doing LL.M. Would discuss this point more in detail later.

Oct 30 2008, 11:53 PMHi Deepak
Thanks for posting the info. I agree with you on the GDL and LPC. The QLTT in my view is an eyewash and just required for people who already have substantial work experience and don't want to spend the money and time on the GDL/ LPC. That said, the QLTT is not going to get you a job easily, which is something I agree with you.
