Leiden Housing

  Greetings colleagues,
  
  Have any of you begun the process of securing housing? Do you have any thoughts about living in Leiden or The Hague? I am planning to live in Leiden and am interested in sharing a flat.

  I've spoken to a couple of other people coming to study with us in September and we've all applied for international housing through the university (in Leiden). I had a look at all of the private housing websites listed on the Leiden site - most of them had very few rooms listed, most of the rooms were being sublet for summer only and some of the rooms had been listed on more than one site; combine that with trying to find housing at the start of the academic year and we decided we'd prefer to pay more for the first few months rather than risking being left without a room.
  
  Depending on how things go (with the room/price/contract), I'm thinking of looking for another room a few months down the track, probably still in Leiden. The Hague might be closer to classes, but I think being in Leiden with the rest of the internationals will be more fun.

  Hi Everybody,
  
  I, too, am living in Leiden (arranged through Leiden's housing office). On a completely unrelated note, do any of you intend on bringing a car? The Leiden staff has not been very helpful in this regard (vis-a-vis parking passes, stickers, etc.), but perhaps some of you have had more success.

  Hey Bastien Hugo de Grostraat was my first choice!! :-))) But ICS people declared that there were no rooms available, so its you who occupied my future single room :P :)))) hahaha
  
  And yes Hugo de Grostraat Hooigracht and Herengracht are all located in the centre

  Should we all have a welcome beer sometime next week or the week after? I think the orientation days will be for all new international students.... We could just set a day and time and meet somewhere?
