Well I just received my accetance note and am seriously considering enrolling. Does anyone have any insights or recommedations? I am going to do international business law. Are the courses and supplementary materials good? How about the exams?

    thanks in advance

    Hi Stephen,

Did you enroll? If yes, what courses are you taking? I am trying to do one exam in May in Section A of World Trade Law and I was wondering if you can assist/advice on this matter. While I registered for quite some time now, I am just settling in on doing an exam. Sorry I could not be of further assistance.

I enrolled in the Comparative law course. I had intended to do the first exam in May but did;t realize that you had to apply by 1 February to do so. It is not very flexible for a working person since I cannot control my travel schedule. Why it takes 3 months notice to send a set of exam papers is beyond my comprehension, Overall, the courses are excellent but you can expect approximately ZERO help from U of L. Obviously the big advantage is that you take the same exams and have the same standards as the in-class students. However,it is really a self-service programme.

    Hey Stephen,

Due to the high demand they have amended the deadline date to March 1, check it out online. And yes, I agree, it's ZERO help from UOL. I guess that's probably part of the reason why a UOL Degree is so precious.

I also Just received my acceptance letter but haven't decided which courses to enroll in. I was thinking Banking and Finance Law or International Business. Perhaps even financial services law. Any suggestions? Also I have applied for the MSt in International Human Rights Law at Oxford and I'm waiting a response. Do you guys have any suggestions for me. Thank you much.

    Dear Mr Blake Dahl,

I believed it all based on your career plan. Which area of law interests you the most or which you will relied on for career advancement. e.g if you plan to be a maritime lawyer, best to specialize in maritime law.

Hello Blake: What is your career aspiration? Do you have any idea as to whether this will make a difference in your career? I've done 5 modules. Overall, the quality at U of L is excellent but: 1) it is very inflexible since you have a defined, unyielding time frame in which to take exams 2) It is "just like" a real LLM degree from the individual colleges", and 3) you dont get your results in a coordinated fashion to allow you to choose next courses.

It is however inexpensive and the material is useful

    Greetings Stephen and Shahrulazwad:
would ultimately like to work as part of the in-house counsel of a large international corporation. If I had a choice it would be for a large financial institution like HSBC Bank. Although I'm willing to practice law in almost any industry I would like to do something international. Banking and finance law seem to be what I'm already good at so I've been leaning in that direction. During law school I worked for the in-house counsel at ArcelorMittal in Chicago, IL and absolutely loved it. I'm also willing to work for an actual law firm but no matter what I want to be able to travel and live internationally. I really want to specialize in an LLM that would make me the most marketable to international organizations and law firms.

So either "International Business Law" "Commercial & Corporate Law" "Banking & Finance Law" or possibly one of the others.
