Jan 31 2011, 08:41 PMHi everyone!
I would like to know if anyone has tips regarding this matter. I have been searching for information on the internet, but there are lots of possibilities and I'm kind of lost...
For sure I would like to live in a place which is walking distance from the campus and which has a nice cost-benefit. I guess that sharing an apartment with other(s) student(s) would be a nice experience.
Looking forward to see you all in May in Singapore,
Eduardo

Jan 31 2011, 09:15 PMHello Eduardo
A current student at NYU@NUS told me that the best option, in his opinion, was to hire a real estate agent as soon as you arrive in Singapore. They will provide various housing options to you and your roommates. Personally I also think this is the best available option, I have studied abroad before and from my own experience looking for housing in a city you don’t know is extremely difficult and time consuming. In the end my roommates and I hired a real estate agent to do the job for us and we ended up in a really big and affordable apartment. I plan to do the same this time at Singapore.
Hope to see you there.
Regards,
Miguel

Jan 31 2011, 09:54 PMHi Eduardo / Miguel
I am based in Singapore for work and Miguel is correct. The best approach would be to put up in a hotel for the first couple of days in Singapore and hire a property agent to assist with your search endeavours.
I look forward to meeting you guys in May!
Cheers

Feb 01 2011, 10:33 AMHi guys!
I'm also facing the same dilemma. I was thinking of applying for a couple of weeks' stay at Evan's Lodge, while I (or a realtor) look for a suitable place. I'll be accompanied by my girlfriend later on, so (un?)fortunately no bachelor pads or shared rooms for me.
Gregory, I assume you're well acquainted with Singapore; any hot tips on which areas to concentrate the search on / neighborhoods to avoid?
Look forward to meeting you in May!
Best,
Topi

Feb 01 2011, 11:03 AMWell, hiring a real state agent seems to be a nice option, but I would prefer to live Brazil with this issue solved, since moving from one place to the other is quite annoying.
Thank you all for your answers!
Let's keep in touch!
Rgs,
Eduardo

Feb 03 2011, 12:13 AMHello everyone,
Is here anyone planning to book @Evans Lodge?
I wrote an email to administrator of Evans Lodge asking rates, however there is no reply. I thought Evans Lodge is nearest one with reasonable rates. Please advise,
Looking forward to meet you all in May.

The administrator sent me a table with the rates. I am not sure I can copy and paste it here as its in pdf. I could email it to you if you would like. Just let me know your address.
Kind regards,
Gloria.[Edited Feb 07 2011]

Feb 19 2011, 08:43 PMHi all,
Will be coming over with my wife in May. I have been told the GSA is a good option in terms of accommodation. Does anyone have an idea how this compares with the option of getting an agent to source for an apartment cost wise?
Looking forward to meeting you all in May.
