Hi, Po-Yen, I called the graduate housing office last week and they told me they have not started the assignment procedure yet. How did you get the information that there is no housing?

I applied Abbott Hall and Worcester House in May. One or two weeks after my applications, they told me there is no studios available for next academic semester. So I have tried to find off-campus accommodation . But yesterday I heard from an upcoming classmate who applied later than me and recently received from Worcester House that there is a studio for her. So there is still a chance if you try to contact the offices. And the classmate told me that you have to contact the office many many many times to push them to arrange a housing for you.
You may find Abbott Hall information on NU website. and Worcester house information is

    Hey Priyanka,

Congratulations and welcome to NU. I am a graduate from NU (2008--09). I am not sure if I can help you on accommodation front since I left chicago. However, I can give you some tips about the locations to find accommodation and also some contacts in US. If you feel like, contact me at 9818005530...
