    The Matrimonial Causes Act (MCA) and the Matrimonial Causes Rules regulate divorce proceedings in Nigeria. Under the MCA, there is only one ground for divorce in Nigeria which is that the marriage has broken down irretrievably. [See s. 15 (1).]. However, the MCA provides for eight facts for establishing that a marriage has broken down irretrievably.
