Jun 05 2009, 05:13 PMI have been accepted in the American Law LLM and also to Fordham. And I have to choose until June 10...ahh and it's so f* hard.Even though I know BU has an international approach, I am interested in anti-trust and competition law..and probably I will choose classes in his area of law. Do you have any idea orsuggestions, which is the best from these 2?thanks :)

my view is that an LLM is like a passport to open the door to a USA law firm. They love rankings therefore, the simplest thing is to go for the law degree from the higher ranked university, Boston. However, if you want to work in New York then you could go to Fordham because it is like the Boston of New York and very well respected. If you want to practice outside of the USA then maybe Boston would be better as it is a better name. If you want to have a big city life, then you must goto Fordham. I have lived in New York and it is one of the best cities in the world for a reason.
However, if you want to spend (slightly) less money and have a better standard of living then Boston wins hands down.
I applied to Columbia but not Fordham. I am English living and working in finance in Hong Kong and if I want to come back here then Boston will be more useful than Fordham. Most of the Boston LLM grads take the New York bar and attend the International LLM job fair in New York. So you will be competing with the same people at Fordham.
I visited Boston in March 2009 and flew from JFK. The flight takes 30 mins and by bus it is 3 or 4 hours. Therefore, if you wanted to you could go there on friday after lectures, party hard and then sleep on the bus back to Boston!! or you could take the train.
hope that helps. stay in touch and let me know what you decide.
cheers
Sidney
